“Feet. What do I need you for when I have wings to fly”

Frida Kahlo

The view of the city stretching across the moraine hills behind the panoramic glass of the living room alone defines this special place. The distant horizon and the dense grid of red-tiled roofs introduce an urban, loft-like atmosphere. We had no doubt with the young owners of this apartament that the styling direction would be modernity, raw materials and vivid colours.

As soon as you cross the doorway, you feel as if you have entered the attic of a top-class loft. The intense turquoise of the Paparazzi patchwork wallpaper, created from a composition of photographs and newspaper headlines by the Serbian artist Draga Obradovic and sculptor Aurel K. Basedow, covers the mobile wardrobe door. Furniture made of brushed oak and matt anthracite conceals many functions: a modern kitchen, a mirrored wardrobe, a mobile TV wall.

The low ceiling is intersected by a construction of anthracite planks, which also serve as a technical lighting installation. This is counterbalanced by a concrete fireplace wall with exposed firewood in metal frames. The openwork form of the lamp designed by Constance Guisset plays with the chiaroscuro in the living room adding lightness and feminine charm to the minimalist interior. The vertical “Ball Chair” by the glass window display of the living room is the ideal place to contemplate the urban landscape.

The bathrooms offer a wealth of textures: concrete with wooden mosaics, 3D plaster cladding with fabric wallpaper and large mirrored claddings. Small space optically appear larger thanks to the refraction of the mirrors. The ceiling skylights are an additional imitation of roof windows.

The urban lifestyle of the homeowners has carried over into the interior, enhancing its bold character. Rustic brick, ribbed structures, concrete and glass create a unique interior that is at once a penthouse, gallery and social gathering place.
